It's official........ I'm awful at blogging. Eh, no one's perfect at everything right??
It's that time of year again. Finals. I'm to the point where I feel like I wanna crawl into a cave and sleep for a million years. Plus to make this week just that much better, it started snowing. BAH.
I have motivation for this week though. And I feel like I should share my nuggets of "motivation wisdom" with you all.
Motivation Tip #1:
Listen to the Disney Pandora Station. Seriously, I get so like pumped up to do stuff as I'm singing at the top of my lungs with Hercules, Simba and Tarzan.
Motivation Tip #2:
Remember that Ry Ry (that's my pet name for Ryan Gosling) is always here for you, ready to help you kick your finals butt and that he loves you. Plus, you'll get to cuddle when you're doneeeeee.
Motivation Tip #3:
Have a friend to send funny pictures to as "motivation". It's amazing what a little laughter will do to your attitude. Or you can always write yourself little motivation songs about making it through finals and not dying, which is what my friend Hannah and I do along with the pictures.
And this motivation tip may just work for me right now, but you can always pretend right?
Motivation Tip #4:
Imagine or pretend that you're getting to go to the happiest place on earth: Disneyland. Or in my case, remember that you only have 10 more days until you get to be there.
I hope that I've given you all a little motivation and a kick into your studying for this finals season. Good luck on finals!!
The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety. -Psalms 18:2

Life brings change
Things are always changing. Between the world around us and our own lives, things are always changing. You may not think so, but it is. Life is kind of like a tree. It may not seem likes its changing, but it is. Every day, the tree is growing taller, adding or losing leaves, having animals come and go and it may lose its bark overtime. We may not think that stuff is changing around us all the time, but it is.
Going off the college this year has really shown me how much life can change, either quickly or slowly. I knew that life would change. I wasn't in high school anymore, I wasn't living at home anymore, and I wasn't with all the same people I've been going to school with for years. Change was expected. What I didn't expect from this year was myself deciding that I didn't want to be a teacher anymore, losing friends like bobby pins, and just the different way my life was going to go. As I look back at what I've gone through over the last 8 months, I've realized that all the change has helped me grow. I'd like to believe that I'm more mature than I was in August. Growing is a good thing. :)
It's gotten to that time of year where it's absolutely crazy and I can't wait for it to be over! I only have 13 days left in my freshman year of college. Which is pretty crazy! I can't wait to go home for the summer. And, this last tuesday, I declared my major, officially! I am now "officially" majoring in speech pathology! :) I'm pretty excited. (if you didn't know, you usually can't declare your major until your junior year. I'm a freshman!)

How many days?
I feel like throughout your life, you always have a countdown going for something. It can be for your birthday, Christmas, a big vacation you have coming up or something that you are really looking forward to. Countdowns are pretty much my life.
My real countdown has finally begun.
Today marks our 10 day mark until we leave for Guatemala. WE ONLY HAVE 10 DAYS UNTIL WE LEAVE! Whatttttt? Has time really flown that quickly? All of our final arrangements have been made, I've gone on many of shopping trips getting everything I need, and lists have been made. I haven't been this excited and nervous at the same time for something in a really long time!
As we have gotten so close, I just want to ask a few things of you:

- That you would pray for our group in the next 10 days as we makes all our final preparations and get everything finalized.
- That you would pray for us while we're on the trip, for safe travel to and from, safe travel while in the country
- That you would pray that everything runs smoothly while we're down there with our Vacation Bible School (with 670 kids!) and the construction we'll be doing at the local community center.
- That not only would we touch the people's hearts who we will be helping down in Guatemala but that they would also touch our hearts.
- That you would pray for the church we will be working with down there, their pastor and congregation, the school we will be working with and the community that is opening their arms to us for a week.

Time Flies
It's February. The first day of February. We have already flown through a whole month in the year of 2012. Dude, that's crazy.
The past month has been a good one. It's been a month of change and new things. We started off the new year with a group of kids from the youth group coming over and playing games with us and we just had a good time. The next morning, my mo and I got up early to drive across the state to go to my cousin's wedding. It was a small, cute wedding that fit the bride and groom perfectly. Later that week, we celebrated my birthday with some good BBQ from Famous Dave's, I got a Kindle and some real luggage as gifts.
Coming back to school was not at the top of my list of exciting things I was looking forward to. Why would I want to come back to a small, old dorm room to sleep in a bed that isn't comfy when I can sleep in my room with a bed that is comfy and get food made by my mom whenever I want? It was a new semester, plus I was getting a new roommate as well. New, new, new. All new. This semester I signed up for 5 classes with a lab. I had a full schedule.
Classes:
Public Speaking, Biology (with a lab), Music, GenEd, and Math
Now, it is the middle of week four, and I have managed to live through the first month of the new semester. My new roommate, Erica, is awesome. We get along so well. She is a cheerleader here at the school, and we just get along so much better then I did with my last roommate. We have movie nights and ice cream nights and we have a lot in common with the different things that we like. My countdown for Guatemala is now down to 36 days which just seems insane to me, but I'm so excited. Over all, this first month of 2012 has been a good one, full of excitement and new things. So February, let's see what you can do. :)
