Would you look at this? Holy crap, in 31 days I'm graduating and will be done with my college degree. It feels like just yesterday that I was graduating high school, and all excited to head to Pullman.
I've always been the kind of person who likes to have a plan. I like to know what's going to happen and when, I have lists everywhere, and I keep all of my calendars filled with events. Planning is something I feel like I always need to have in my life.
Life after college though is not something I have a plan for. It's stressful, it's annoying, but it's not there. At least not yet. I get asked a lot about my plans so for those of you who are curious, here is my plan at this point in time.
After a lot of prayerful consideration, I decided that I would not spend my summer after graduation working for YouthWorks. This decision has nothing to do with YouthWorks, or with my past two summers, because they were incredible. This decision was solely based on the fact that God was telling me that this chapter of my life was coming to a close. I'm sad that I won't be spending those 3 months with my kids, but I know that the staff placed in Lodge Grass this summer will love them all just as much as I do. I am excited and happy to say that I will be returning to Lodge Grass this summer as an adult leader with the youth group on their annual mission trip. I'm excited for this new experience, and ask that you continue to pray for the people of Lodge Grass, and the staff who will be placed there this summer.
With that being said, starting May 9th, I will be moving home to the Tri-Cities. There were ideas tossed around about camp counselor jobs and ministry internships, but in my heart, I knew that God was calling me back to the Tri-Cities. Things like little brother's graduation and best friend's wedding were things that I couldn't miss. And I'm okay with it. Coming home means I can spend a summer with the people I love the most, all while I get my feet on solid ground and get a start to this thing called adult life. Until then, my one goal is graduation day, walking across that stage, and getting that diploma.
So there you have it. No full time job positions, no major plans. It's stressful, I know. But while I have my days of worry, overall I'm not; rather I am at peace. I trust that God will show me the right path, and that He will provide for me in this new time of life. He and I are still talking it out what passions I should pursue, and when we get it all figured out, I'll let you know. My trust is in him, and with that nothing can be wrong.
Until then, I would appreciate your prayers for my life, and my fellow graduates lives. We are at a time where there is so much unknown, and there is no such thing as too much support. I truly appreciate the support, love and prayers I have gotten over the years. I wouldn't be here today without them.
Here's to a new adventure, to the unknown, and to not having a plan--because really, it's not my plan.
